The Temple of Hephaestus (aka Theseion or Thission) is an emblematic monument of classical antiquity, built in the late 5th century BC to honor Hephaestus, the god of fire, craftsmanship and technology. It is situated on an uplifting of the Agora in Athens, Greece and remains the best-preserved temple of antiquity Greek. This magnificent building continues to draw the attention of visitors and photographers with its spectacular columns, beautiful friezes, imposing gates and magnificent stairways. The view from its doors is equally spectacular and will bring you a step closer to its ancient times. Its exquisite carvings and sculptures make it a must-see destination in Athens. With so many ruins to explore, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but the Temple of Hephaestus is a great representation of why the Historic Monuments of Athens deserve their World Heritage status.
