Oudegracht

The Oudegracht in Utrecht is a historical canal lined with beautiful buildings, as well as restaurants, cafés, and shops on either side. It was built in 1122 as a defence against surrounding enemies, and still bears its original masonry of rows of red brick. More recently, it has become important for its boating, particularly for the unique wharf cellars in the rough waterside walls. In addition, there are many parks situated along the canal that are perfect for a stroll or a picnic in good weather.
