Fox Island, also known as Whynots Island, is located in Lunenburg, Canada. It is an uninhabited island just off of Lunenburg’s coast, one of the busiest and most vibrant ports in the country, known for the bright colors of its many fishing boats. Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Mahone Bay, visitors to Fox Island will find isolated beaches and rocky outcrops, and spot a variety of wildlife connecting the island to the bigger landscape and photographer’s eye. With both calmer and rougher parts, Fox Island offers a wide variety of activities like kayaking, canoeing, fishing and hiking, making it an ideal location for adventurers. Other activities like sight-seeing, picnicking and birdwatching can also be enjoyed. Accessing the island is easy with a kayak or boat rental, or even by swimming in the summer months.
