Festung Nariqala
📍 Georgia
Festung Nariqala is an ancient fortress built by the kings of Georgia in T'bilisi, the country's capital city, centuries ago. It stands proudly atop a hill overlooking the city, visible from every corner of the capital. Its walls are pierced with loopholes to protect the fortress from intruders, while the walls proudly feature some of the nation's most renowned religious emblems. Interestingly, it was the site of a ceremonial wedding between Alexander the Great’s daughter and an Armenian prince. The towering citadel of ancient times provides an impressive air of mystery. Several centuries of weathering has made it a distinct part of the skyline in Georgia. While its aura of mystique can't be compared to other destinations, the fortress's past echoes through its dense walls and invites visitors to explore its intriguing secrets.
