The Colosseum in Rome is one of the most iconic and impressive ancient structures in the world. It is an ancient amphitheater built of stone and concrete and was used to host intense public spectacles and battles of gladiators and animals. Now, almost two thousand years later, the Colosseum remains today a grand reminder of Ancient Roman architectural and engineering feats. Even though the exterior and some parts of the interior are in ruins, visitors can still appreciate the stunning panoramic views of Rome from the top and marvel at the architecture in each floor level. The Colosseum also serves as a reminder of Ancient Rome's gruesome history and violent entertainment events.
