Schkland Haven

Schokland is a former island in the Netherlands that was merged with the mainland in 1930 due to the rise of the sea level. Today it is a 4km long recreation area for hikers and cyclists, full of archaeological remains, rich flora and fauna and views of the water. Schkland Haven and Misthoornhuisje Schkland are two gems within this area. Schkland Haven is the centrepiece, a picturesque cove formed by a breakwater and packed with sand dunes, fishing boats and a water causeway. At Misthoornhuisje Schkland, a unique 17th century heavy wooden house stands on a dike, with a fantastic view over the historic wonder of Schokland. This area is a must-see, offering a unique blend of natural and cultural heritage.
