Registan Square in Samarqand, Uzbekistan, is a celebrated site of immense historic importance. The square, which dates back to the 15th century, has served as the heart of the city for centuries and is perhaps the most beautiful architectural achievement in the Muslim world. The three madrassas that form the square are decorated in vibrantly colored faience tiles, and the numerous minarets and towers lend the square a magical atmosphere.
