Porta di Santo Stefano is the primary entry point to the historic city center of Martina Franca, Italy. It was built in the 18th century by the Order of Santo Stefano in order to protect the city from the Turks. Also known as the "Iron Door”, it features two large arches and a small, central arch dedicated to the local patron saint. It's decorated with stone carvings and coats of arms and surrounded by two towers with battlements. Park your car outside the city walls and explore the center of town with a leisurely stroll or visit the local shops and restaurants while admiring this magnificent example of Baroque architecture. Don't forget to ask the locals, they have plenty of stories to tell!
