Miner Gulch is an unincorporated community located near Carpenterville in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, United States. It has a population of just under 20 residents as of the 2010 census. Spanning an area of 20 acres, the sparsely populated community is nestled in the dense forest of the Ouachita Mountains. It is located right off lush, winding trails surrounded by acres of pristine wilderness, making for a beautiful, natural backdrop for hiking. Mineral deposits including quartz and calcite deposit add to the breathtaking sights. The history of the area dates back to the mid 1900s when coal miners of Irish and African descent worked the land to provide fuel for the nearby communities and railroads. The name honors their original endeavors. Visitors will be able to explore the remains of mines, barns, and crumbling structures that tell an important part of the small community's character and history.
