Loch an Eilein's House is a stunning, 13th century castle ruin situated in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, between Inverness and Aviemore. In the heart of the Rothiemurchus forest, the ruin is nestled on its own small private island on Loch An Eilein and was once home to Clan Grant chiefs. The ruin boasts impressive views of the surrounding wetlands, forests and heathlands, with a picturesque lake that visitors can canoe or fish in. The surrounding woods are also home to many species of wildlife from Ospreys, to Roe Deer and Ptarmigans. With an easy access path from the nearby Loch Car Park, this is the ideal spot for a peaceful stroll, maybe catch the sunset, or just relax among the ruins of Scottish history.
