
Inveraray Castle is a stunning piece of 18th century Gothic architecture overlooking the charming town of Inveraray in Western Scotland. Built by the first Duke of Argyll for his family in 1745, Inveraray Castle had been a seat of the Dukes of Argyll ever since. It was extensively remodelled in 1893 to the design of renowned Scottish architect Robert Rowand Anderson. It is popular among tourists for its grandiose interiors and majestic exteriors, depicting the traditional castles of Scotland. Inside the castle, one can find various artifacts and collections, including prand Dundonian oak furniture, which is quite old. The chancel of the chapel of the castle also holds impressive stained glass windows which was designed by Edward Burne Jones. Tourists can explore the fine displays and memorabilia of the castle’s 250 year long residence. You can also find an interesting collection of artifacts connected with the chief's local Clan Campbell. The grounds of the castle have a lot to offer too. There are four gardens reflecting the style of gardening that was first introduced in the 18th century, a colorful walled garden with a rose walk and a modern parterre. Other attractions include the maze, the fountain, the terraces and a pond. The castle is surrounded by a quaint village with cafes and shops, giving any traveler a complete package of Celtic beauty.
