Hot Water Beach

Hot Water Beach is an iconic location located in the Coromandel region of New Zealand. The beach is famous for two natural features – it has a hot water stream that bubbles up from beneath the sand at low tide and a large rocky platform called The Caves at the southern end of the beach. People come to dig their own hot pools in the sand with the naturally heated geothermal water. Popular activities include swimming, rock pool exploring, and sunbathing. The beach is great for swimming, surfing, body boarding, and fishing. It's also an excellent spot for a stroll along the beach and plenty of rock-pool exploring. The best way to experience Hot Water Beach is to visit during low tide. Make sure to bring a bucket or spade so that you can dig out your own personal hot pool.
