
The Chateau de Roi René is a 15th century castle located in the town of Tarascon, France. Built by the French King René of Anjou, the castle is one of the most impressive examples of Provencal Renaissance architecture and design. Visitors can explore the castle’s towers and ramparts, ramparts galleries and the court of honor. Within the walls, the palace houses several distinct sections, with various Renaissance-style monuments and gardens. Inside, the castle museum houses several unique artefacts, such as an impressive painted wooden ceiling, an ornamental fountain, a marble stone and reliefs. On the grounds, one will also find the Royal Chapel of Saint Nicolas and the church of Saint Jean. Today, the Chateau de Roi René is open to the public as a historical site and a museum.
