Budapest

Budapest is the capital and largest city of Hungary, situated on the Danube River with stunning views of hills and riverside. It’s known for grand 19th-century architecture and a nightlife scene with ruin pubs. It is also home to many UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Andrássy Avenue, a tree-lined boulevard spilling from the Opera House. St. Stephen’s Basilica is one such site, a Neo-Classical church, named for Hungary’s first king, Stephen I, who converted the nation to Christianity in 1000. It boasts the largest bell in Hungary and its cupolas, and altars are lavishly decorated with frescoes, mosaics and marble.
