Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Jesus

The Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Jesus is a Roman Catholic church located in the historic town of Paray-le-Monial in the Burgundy region of France. Built in the late 19th century on the site of the Urbain Monastery, the Basilique is beautiful example of French Neo-Gothic architecture, with two spires reaching 12 and 45 meters high, and a stunning rose-colored exterior. Inside, visitors can see the vaults, the stained-glass windows, and the sculptures of the Chapels of the Sacred Heart and the Divine Mercy. The crypt and the Treasure Chamber of the monastery can also be visited free of charge. The Basilique is the major pilgrimage site of the region, and visitors can also sign up for a guided tour to get more out of the visit.
