Wat Santitham
📍 Thailand
Wat Santitham is a beautiful Buddhist temple in Chang Phueak, Thailand. It was built in the early 17th century and is believed to have been established by King Naresuan Ming Makhut the Great. The main feature of the temple is a stunning gold and red gilded 35-metre long reclining Buddha, framed by a bright blue sky and flanked by two Thai-style serpent dragons. Behind the main building are several smaller Chedis and a collection of Buddhas of various poses and Gold-encrusted stupas. The exterior walls of Wat Santitham are covered in exquisitely hand-painted murals, depicting Buddhist stories from both ancient and modern religion. It's a great place to explore, with plenty of scenic lookout points, peaceful resting areas and ornate sculptures. It's also a wonderful place to make merit and receive blessings. Visitors are welcome to take part in ceremonies and offerings, as long as they dress respectfully.
