Clock Tower

Built in the 16th century, Vernazza's Clock Tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Cinque Terre - Italy's stunning collection of five cliff-hugging villages. Sitting on the edge of the harbor, it stands out against a backdrop of multi-colored homes, fishing boats, and the azure Mediterranean sea. From the terrace of the tower visitors can enjoy magnificent views of the village, the harbor and the historical facade of the Sanctuary of Madonna di Reggio. The clock tower is a symbol of the maritime traditions and independence of Vernazza. Its balustrades and pillars are decorated with the warm-colored Ligurian stone and are adorned with numerous coats of arms. A climb up the challenging stone steps rewards you with a truly magnificent panorama from the bell terrace.
