Vladimir the Great

Vladimir the Great Statue, standing tall near Moskva river, is an inspiring tribute to a man who established the first Russian state. Vladimir the Great, or Volodymyr, was prince and eventual grand prince of Kieven Rus’ from 980 to 1015 AD.

The statue was erected in 1853 to commemorate Vladimir's conversion to Christianity in 988. The 11.64 meter high bronze sculpture was designed by sculptor Mikhail Kozlovsky and stands on a pedestal of pink and gray granite, 3.8m tall. Vladimir the Great Statue is a popular landmark and tourist spot in Moskva, its bronze figure inspiring awe and admiration in passersby. The towering statue is the perfect backdrop for photographs, tourist and locals alike taking advantage of the amazing view of the city.
