Merlion

The Merlion Statue sits on a luxury resort located in the Southern Islands of Singapore. The Merlion is perhaps the most famous symbol of Singapore; it is the body of a lion and the head of a fish, combined to symbolize the maritime history of the country. The Merlion is an iconic landmark featured in many postcards, tourist souvenirs and photographs. It stands 8.6 meters (28 ft) tall and rests atop a crest of waves, making it a popular spot for visitors to catch views of the Singapore Strait. It is illuminated at night, providing a spectacular sight. The immediate area is landscaped with lush green lawns and contains a fountain, several gazebos, restaurants and cafés. Furthermore, there are many parks nearby with plenty of activities such as exploring nature trails and swimming lagoons.
