Bern

Bern and Bärenpark are a must-see in beautiful Bern, Switzerland. Located in the middle of a forest and overlooking the River Aar, the Bärenpark is a unique wildlife park with a long history.

The Bern Bear Park, first opened in 1909, is home to several brown bears and a few other animals including marmots, Alpine ibex and wild boar. The Park is also comprised of a 90 meter long suspension bridge, several observation platforms, and a number of interactive attractions. Visitors can watch the bears playing in their pool, eating and sleeping in their large enclosures. In the winter months they can also observe the bears coming out of hibernation. Apart from the animals, the Park has several great views and attractions to explore, from the wooden bear sculptures to the terrace restaurant with stunning views of the Swiss Alps. If visiting in the summer months, make sure to pack for the rain and fog, as it can rain frequently. Also, don't forget to bring a camera – you won't want to miss out on either the views or the animals!
