Bergen

Bergen is the second largest city in Norway, located on the beautiful west coast between the fjords and mountains of Western Norway. It is known as the gateway to the fjords and was once Norway's main harbour and trading centre.

The city of Bergen is renowned for its many attractions. The Hanseatic Museum and Schøtstuene, the colourful old Hanseatic buildings, the famous fish market, the Bryggen wharf lined with colourful wooden buildings and the historic Hakon's Hall are all major sights. There is an abundance of outdoor activities around the city including hiking in the nearby mountains and fjords, kayaking and boat tours to the nearby waters and islets, whale watching, and sea-angling. Bergen also has a lively restaurant and nightlife scene with many traditional wooden pubs, jazz bars, and vibrant nightclubs. The mountainous region around Bergen is home to many cascading waterfalls, and the majestic Folgefonna Glacier is located in the nearby Hardangerfjord region. It currently stands as Europe's largest glacier. An 18km scenic treks takes you to the glacier's highest peak.
