Torre del Borgo

Torre del Borgo is a 14th-century fortification situated in the town of Recanati, Italy. It is the symbol of the town, located in the middle of the old part of the city; the tower is part of the Urban Walls, which surrounded the old city in the past. It is visible for miles and has been altered several times throughout history. The building is preserved in its original form, as it once served as a defensive outpost. Nowadays, you can visit Torre del Borgo every day except Sunday, from 8 am to 7 pm, during part of the year. There are also guided tours available. The views from the tower are breathtaking, and the cobblestone staircases lead up to the old guardhouse, highlighted by the bright colors of the frescoes that are located in the interior. You can also find some interesting artifacts inside, such as a medieval hearth, a small chapel, old coins and a bell. Finally, you can look down at the city from the terrace located on the upper part of the tower.
