St. Charles Church

St. Charles Church is an iconic landmark located in the heart of Monaco. The present-day bell tower was added in the late 19th century by Charles Garnier, renown architect of the iconic Opera Garnier in Paris. The church itself dates back to the mid-1600s, but has since been extended several times to accommodate the religious demands of the Principality. Inside, guests can admire the grand pipe organ and unique stained-glass windows. The interior decor is also noteworthy, with its intricate stone-carved sculptures, and their extravagant artworks of cherubs, angels, animals and figures. Guided audio-tours are available to those interested in learning more about the church's past and the history of Monaco. Outside, charming semi-circular steps lead visitors to the large terrace, overlooking the city. The church provides stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea, the yacht-filled harbor, and the nearby Princes Palace.
