Sensō-ji

Sensō-ji is one of the most renowned and historical temples in Tokyo. Located in Taitō City, it is one of Tokyo's signature landmarks and hundreds of thousands of devotees, tourists, and photographers visit every year. This famous Buddhist temple is dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon, and its vegetation-filled grounds feature an iconic five-story pagoda, the two-story main prayer hall and the Hōzōmon gate. The temple also has a purification fountain, where visitors can purify themselves before worshipping. The whole area around the temple is known as Asakusa and is a popular spot for shopping and experiencing traditional Japanese culture. Here visitors will also find several traditional restaurants, shops and a variety of special events. Another popular spot for visitors and photographers alike is Sumida Park, which is just a short walk away from the temple. Here you can enjoy beautiful views of Tokyo, the river, and even Mount Fuji in the distance.
