The Santuario Madonna di San Luca is a baroque style church in Bologna, Italy. Located high on a hill, it is a landmark of the city. Built in 1723, this sanctuary consists of a series of 666 arches that protect the holy icon of the Madonna di San Luca, which is carried in a procession by the faithful every year on the third Sunday of May. The Sanctuary is a photographer’s paradise, offering breathtaking views of the city from its terrace atop the hill. It also has numerous chapels and paintings with valuable frescoes. Tourists can take a ride in the famous covered portico, known as ‘Porch of San Luca’, which is the longest in the world. During the route, visitors can admire many historical buildings and monuments, along with the splendid view of Bologna from the hill.
