Providence Downtown

Providence Downtown is an area of downtown Providence, Rhode Island, in the United States. It is the business and tourism center of Providence and the state of Rhode Island. The area's attractions include the Rhode Island State House, Kennedy Plaza, the Providence Performing Arts Center, The Arcade, Providence Place Mall, Waterplace Park, Riverwalk, and numerous restaurants and shops. The Rhode Island State House is an impressive architectural structure and is the first state capitol to be built in the United States. Kennedy Plaza is a major transportation hub, featuring bus and taxi stands, and a central location for public transportation. The Providence Performing Arts Center is one of the top venues for the performing arts, hosting Ballet and Broadway performances. The Arcade is the oldest indoor shopping mall in the U.S., and Riverwalk is a city wide trail, scenic route and public space with restaurants, walkways, and waterfront views. Visitors to the area can experience cuisine from all over the world, as well as a variety of museums and galleries.
