Basilica di Santo Stefano

The Basilica of Santo Stefano, located in the heart of Bologna, Italy, is a complex of four different religious sites, each of which boasts awe-inspiring architecture and breathtaking artworks. The oldest part is the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, a 5th century building from the Roman period with frescoes and mosaics from the 5th century. The second site is the Church of St Stephen, a 16th century basilica which contains precious works of art such as the Carriage of St. Stephen and the sarcophagus of St. Dominic located in the crypt.
