Памятник Пушкину

The Pushkin Monument is a celebrated and iconic monument to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, located at the very heart of Moscow, on Tverskoi Boulevard, and next to Pushkinskaya Square and the Moscow Art Theater. This monument was designed by the great sculptor Pyotr Yefimovich Klodt and completed in 1880. The monument is highly respected, it is often featured on postcards and is usually surrounded by bouquets of red roses from fans of the poet's work. It symbolizes Pushkin's special place in Russian culture and his strong connection to Moscow. A memorial candle is kept lit at the base of the statue to commemorate the poet's death in a duel in 1837. There are often events, concerts and poetry readings on Pushkinskaya Square where the monument is located.
