The gold-and-blue ceiling looms over the church and is an impressive example of 16th century artistry and Renaissance architecture. Mosaic images are imprinted onto the surface, each crafted with intricate skill. There is beauty to be admired in the details and proportion of the ceiling, with the space filled with vibrant colors and depictions of Christian figures such as Peter and Mary. The ceiling was designed and completed by Pietro da Cortona in 1656 and still remains to this day as a truly awe-inspiring sight.
