Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain

The beautiful Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain is located in St James's, United Kingdom. Originally erected in 1873, it stands in the centre of traffic circle at Piccadilly Circus in London. It was designed by sculptor Sir Alfred Gilbert in honor of the philanthropist Lord Shaftesbury. The fountain features a winged figure of Anteros, often referred to as the Angel of Christian Charity, seated on a large fountain on top of a granite plinth. The fountain is embellished with symbols and emblems of British civic pride. The fountain is popular among tourists and is a great spot for a photo opportunity.
