Nur-Astana Mosque

Nur-Astana Mosque is a stunning example of Islamic architecture located in Astana, Kazakhstan. It was built in the summer of 2017 to commemorate the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate and boasts an impressive 87-meter-tall minaret made from marble which shines in the Sun’s rays. The mosque, which can accommodate 5,000 worshippers, is an incredible mixture of contemporary and classical elements, with its design incorporating enlarged copies of ancient ornaments found in the steppes of Kazakhstan. The interior and exterior of the mosque are wonderfully decorated with ceramic tiles, depicting meaning symbols and Quranic verses and is so aesthetically pleasing that it was even chosen to be in Guinness World Record for largest mosaic.
