Metiers Art Museum

The Musée des Métiers d'Art in Paris is an important center for the preservation and exposure of professional crafts created by French artisans and artists. The museum, which is housed in a restored 19th century building, showcases the traditional and modern techniques used to create fine metalwork, gold and silversmithing, stained glass, cabinetry, marbled paper and stone, sculpture, and many other art forms. Open since 1987, the museum welcomes visitors to the life of artisans and the wide range of items they make. Inside, visitors will find an extensive collection that includes clocks, furniture, vessels, weapons, items made from precious metals, tools, and jewelry. In addition to the works left by vendors, there is also a library dedicated to the history of the art of crafts and workshops for children.
