Laguna Esmeralda

Laguna Esmeralda, located in the Northern Argentinean province of Salta, is a magical destination surrounded by a vast, undisturbed landscape. Spanning an impressive 100 ha, it is a unique refuge of tranquillity with the Andes Mountains to the East, the Calchaquies Valley to the South, and the Atacama Desert to the North. The main feature of Laguna Esmeralda is its beautiful crystalline lake, surrounded by sprawling meadows and Mt. Juriques to the south. Explorers can follow trails that wrap around the laguna to encounter wildlife such as llamas, vicuñas, hares, foxes and sporadically chinchillas.
