Lago di Sorapis

Lago di Sorapis is a stunning jagged lake situated in the Dolomites, in the Ampezzo valley near Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. The lake sits in a glacier carved basin enclosed by dramatic peaks, surrounded by the Ampezzo valleys and its meadows. A particularly stunning view is from the Bivio Brioschi viewpoint. The turquoise color of the water is due to its glacial origin. The area around the lake is quiet, a great spot for outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain climbing and biking. There are many different trails that you can explore. The most popular one is the 3-hour route that goes around the lake, providing views of the Dolomite peaks, the beautiful landscape and the verdant forests. For an easier way to experience the vista, try taking the cable car from Cortina d'Ampezzo to Monte Piana.
