This area is part of the Many Glacier Valley in the glaciated peaks of the US Rocky Mountains. Wildlife abounds here, from mountain goats and bears to waterfowl and bald eagles in the lakes. Long valleys offer some stunning views of the surrounding jagged peaks and glaciers, and blue lakes providing swimming for the more adventurous. The trail starts at the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, following along the east shores of Lake Josephine. The trail passes by vivid hillsides and jewel-like lakes, as well as meadows interspersed with interesting characterful trees. As well as spectacular views, travelers also have a chance of encountering wild animals. The trail terminates at the Grinnell Glacier Viewpoint, where you can take in the impressive view of the glacier that gave the trail its name.
