Foz do Rio Itaúnas

Foz do Rio Itaúnas is a stunning ecosystem in the eastern state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Located in the coastal municipality of Conceição da Barra, it's comprised of two sections: a large river embouchure and a smaller part of the Delta das Rosas. The large section is divided in two: the Rio Itaúnas, which follows beside the coastline, and the Rio Santa Maria, which runs alongside the beaches. Here, the river offers tranquil waters, tidal lagoons, and diverse plant and animal life. All of this can be explored through boat and kayak trips.

The smaller riverside section is the Delta das Rosas, which is full of evergreen vegetation, and full of small islands formed by sand bars. Here, the Rio Itaúnas spills into the lagoon, forming perfect isolated beaches. In addition, the Delta houses a wide range of fauna species, including fish, especially the prized anglers. Foz do Rio Itaúnas is an ideal place for nature lovers and intrepid travelers alike. Just remember to take enough supplies, as accommodation options are scarce in the area.
