
The Columbus Monument is a 60-meter-tall monument located in the center of Barcelona, Spain. It commemorates Christopher Columbus’s first voyage to the New World, when he landed in nearby Palos de la Frontera in 1492. The monument is divided into sections representing the different stages of the voyage, with a statue of Columbus at the top holding a staff with a cross at the end.The structure was built between 1882 and 1888 and stands atop Monte Tabor, a hill in the old port of Barcelona. From the base of the monument, visitors can see Columbus's ship and the harbour full of boats. It is a popular tourist destination and can be seen from many places in the city, making it a great photo spot. It is accessible to the public, but beware not to take photos of the monument itself during religious ceremonies.
