Bunker 599

The Bunker 599 and the 'Doorgezaagd Gezichtsbunker' (Doorgezaadge Bunker) in Zijderveld are two remarkable WWII relics located in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. Bunker 599 is a former command post which served as the headquarters of Operation Market Garden, the Allied air-landing operation in September 1944. The Doorgezaadge Bunker, located close to Bunker 599, was a small bunker designed for observation, equipped with viewing slots for observing the battlefield. Both bunkers provide visitors with a unique insight into Dutch history and are open to the public. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area, while learning more about the events that took place during WWII.
