Bled Castle

Bled Castle is a medieval fortress situated atop a craggy cliff above Lake Bled in Radovljica, Slovenia. It is believed to be one of the oldest castles in Slovenia and is a popular tourist attraction due to its picturesque scenery and mesmerising views. The castle was first built in the 11th century and was later fortified during the 16th century. Its wide gate roof and thick walls provide visitors with a glimpse into its past. Inside the castle, visitors can tour the 'Castle Museum', which houses a series of paintings and artefacts depicting the castle's proud history. There is also a chapel and a guesthouse, where visitors can sample traditional Slovenian dishes. The castle is accessible by a steep ascent up a stairway, or you can take the Pletna boat service, a traditional gondola that takes visitors to the entrance, where they are welcomed by the 'Fairy of the Lake'. Visitors can also explore the castle grounds and the many terraced gardens surrounding it which offer breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
