Lincoln Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, United States is a historic monument paying homage to the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. The large marble structure was built in 1922 and stands as a tribute to his life and legacy. The memorial is situated on the National Mall and features an impressive 19-foot-high marble sculpture of President Lincoln as well as inscriptions of two of Lincoln's famous speeches; the Gettysburg Address and Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address. The Memorial is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is attended by a small staff of park rangers. Visitors can enjoy the sweeping view of the Washington Monument and Tidal Basin from the steps of the Memorial and learn the history of the man whose words and actions reflected the values of justice and freedom for all.
