Duisburg's Buildings are some of the best in Germany and one of the highlights of any visit to the area. The city's oldest architecture, dating back many centuries to the middle-ages, is well-preserved and attracts tourists from around the world. From the Renaissance-style Town Hall and Baroque-style Church of St Gertrudis, to the Industrial-style shops and mills along the Ruhr River, there is a unique style of architecture around every corner. Many of the streets leading up to Central Station are lined with colorful European-style architecture from the 19th century. For a more modern touch, visit the harbor which is the world’s largest inland port, and the Rhein-Ruhr Zoo, which is home to many animals from around the world. For a great view of Duisburg, take a ferry ride on the Ruhr or climb Ronsdorf Tower and take in the stunning cityscape.
