The Island - Robberg Nature Reserve

The Island - Robberg Nature Reserve in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa is a protected area occupying the entire peninsula between the Robberg and Robberg West beaches. The reserve is made up of a mostly bare stone coast and has three distinct walking trails. The 4km Nature Trail runs from the picnic site near the reserve entrance to The Point. It takes in spectacular ocean views and the crater of a shipwreck at The Place of Reeds, while offering glimpses into the lives of African penguins, cormorants and other seabirds. The 3.2km Loop trail takes walkers around the tip of the peninsula and past ancient rock art sites. The 6.7km are hiking trail leads to the summit at 183m above sea level, with even more incredible views of the bays and farmlands of Plettenberg Bay.
