Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center

The Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center (台灣傳統戲曲中心) in 德華里 is a modern arts complex that houses the country's most noteworthy and well-preserved traditional Chinese theater performances. Designed by architect Yu You-jen, the center features exhibition galleries that display artifacts from the rich history of Taiwanese operatic performances, as well as a performance theater. The center offers a year-round program of workshops, classes and theatrical performances to preserve the cultural legacy of traditional Chinese operas, such as the popular Beiguan and Hakka troupe performances. The complex also houses a souvenir shop, restaurant, and an outdoor plaza. The surrounding area is a popular spot for photographers, as the vibrant red and yellow architectures of the center stand out nicely against the green forest backdrop of the region.
