Skãrnu iela

Skãrnu iela (Street of Barns) is a charming and picturesque cobbled street in Old Rīga, Latvia. The street is lined with buildings that date back to the 17th century, making it a great spot to admire typical Rīga architecture and discover the city's history. Every house on the street displays its own unique architectural style, ranging from Baroque to Expressionist. And most of these houses are adorned with painted decorations, giving the street an extra special character. Skãrnu iela was named after its numerous old barns, located on the adjacent Zirgu iela (Street of Horses). As you walk down the street, don’t miss the opportunity to explore the small Zirgu strut (Horse yard), one of the oldest residential yards in Riga. Here you’ll find blacksmiths and saddlers, and can also buy clogs, made according to old traditional methods. Make sure to bring your camera, you won't find anything like Skãrnu iela in Rīga!
