San Domenico - Cappella dell'Arca is a remarkable religious and cultural complex located in the heart of Bologna, Italy. It was first built in the 13th century as part of a basilica dedicated to St. Dominic and was expanded in the 15th century as a chapel. This breathtakingly beautiful chapel is home to an impressive and intricate canopy representing the resting place of St. Dominic. The chapel also includes a number of works by the renowned 15th century sculptor and painter Nicolo Pisano and Ippolito Scarsella. Inside, visitors can find the original relics of St. Dominic, and will be impressed by the chapel's ornate Renaissance marble decoration and grand frescoes. The chapel also houses two works attributed to Raphael. A viewpoint in the courtyard offers a great view of the city of Bologna. While visiting the chapel, there are a number of other sights nearby that are also worth a visit.
