Prinzipalmarkt

The Prinzipalmarkt in Münster is a landmark in the city center, and one of the oldest shopping arcades in the country. The two-story, arcaded shopping arcade was erected in 1619 around the traditional weekly market which had been held at that place for so many years. The Prinzipalmarkt is famous for its half-timbered houses and is one of the most popular attractions in the city. Notable buildings include the "Alte Kornhaus" and the "Alte Waage" which was once part of the fortifications of Münster. Visitors can explore the area, admire the historic facades of the buildings, shop at the small stores and enjoy the market atmosphere that have been filling the place for centuries.
