Prince Eugene - Equestrian Statue

The Prince Eugene - Equestrian Statue is a monument to General Prince Eugene of Savoy, located in Wien, Austria. It stands 12-meters high in a central location in the city. The statues was designed by famous Austrian sculptor Anton Dominik Fernkorn to commemorate the Prince's victory over the Ottoman Empire in the Belgrade campaign of 1717. The bronze statue stands atop a large granite and marble pedestal, which features a marble medallion of the Prince in profile as well as a marble bust. The monument also features many impressive details such as the Prince’s armor in high relief and the bridle and reins behind the horse. Visitors to the monument can get a close-up view of this impressive work of art from the street-level view, or they can take a stroll away from the monument to the Parkring, located across the street.
