Palazzo Comunale

Set in a historic neighbourhood, Palazzo Comunale of Bologna is a stunning sight to behold, exuding the city's grand Renaissance heritage. The façade is covered in elaborate sculptures and terracotta ornaments, with the sundial centerpiece bearing the coat of arms of Sforza family, which ruled the city in the late 15th century. Its origins date from the 15th century, when it served as the first City Hall, with the Marquis Sforza providing great patronage. Climb the spiral staircase to reach the loggia at the top, with its truly remarkable view overlooking the Piazza Maggiore. It has recently been fully renovated and now houses the Civic Collection of Ancient Art.
