Millennium Monument

The Millennium Monument in Budapest, Hungary is a grandiose structure, featuring colonnades and memorials. It marks the commemorations of the thousand year anniversary of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin. The monument, designed by architect György available in 1896, is located in one of the main squares of Budapest, Hero's Square. The entire monument is composed of statues – with soaring imposing bronze figures of the rulers of the Seven Tribes that founded Hungary, as well as equestrian figures of King St Stephen and Prince Emeric, the founder of the Hungarian state. On the upper terrace stand the Archangel Gabriel and the Turul, a mythical bird. Tourists are welcomed to explore the charm of this monumental structure.
