Lake Windemere

Located in Cumbria, in the heart of the Lakes District, Lake Windemere is the largest lake in the United Kingdom. With a length of 11.2 miles and a width of 0.5 miles, the lake offers spectacular views over the surrounding hills and valleys. Take a boat ride to admire the stunning scenery – popular routes include Windemere-Lockerley and Bowness-Windermere. After that, explore some of the nearby attractions such as Brockhole visitor centre, where you will find a host of activities, from climbing walls to birdwatching. If you are interested in walking or cycling, you will find many trails to follow around the lake's circumference.
